I am currently associate professor in geomatics engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where I has been teaching for more than 30 years undergraduate, graduate and PhD students. I teach subjects in geospatial information science for civil engineers, technical managers, and environment engineers. My research interests cover a wide spectrum of geospatial and engineering fields - digital data capturing, spatial database systems, digital cartography, geo visualization, GIS management and urban modeling. Beyond my academic work I has more than 30 years' experience in applied research and development of national and international projects.  I am secretary general of the Hungarian Association for Geoinformation (HUNAGI), president of GIS commission of the Hungarian Society of Surveying and Mapping, member of the European Umbrella Association for Geographic Information (EUROGI) executive committee, Hungarian National Standardization Agency GIS Committee, the Hungarian Space Council, the John von Neumann Computer Society and the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association Council (GSDI). As a private consultant I supported the early GIS developments in Hungary in the energy and info-communication sectors, and in the fields of water, traffic, urban and environmental management. I am author and co-author of five professional textbooks and numerous research papers on geographical information science.
