Chris Rizos Professor Emeritus (UNSW, Sydney, Australia), former President of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) (2011-2015), current President-Elect of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) (2019-2023), who will be the next President of IUGG (2023-2027), visited Budapest during his European trip. He gave a scientific lecture on "What More Can Geodesy do for the Geosciences?" at the Rédey Seminar of the Department of Geodesy and Surveying, Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). In his keynote presentation, which was also broadcast online, he highlighted the important current and future role of geodesy for the IUGG scientific associations and the earth sciences, and outlined the main directions of possible synergies.
